FileBird is a media library manager plugin for WordPress. The plugin extends the functionality of media library manager in WordPress which only has the ability to edit and delete media files. FileBird adds the ability to create folders inside the WordPress media library so that you can put together media files by their types. For instance, you can put together all portrait photos into a “Portrait” folder. This way, you can easily find a media file when you need one.
The folders created by FileBird are virtual folders. Thus, it doesn’t break the permalinks of your media files in the post or page.
After installing and activating the FileBird plugin, you will have a new sidebar on the left side inside the WordPress media library. From here, you can create folders and manage them. FileBird also add several parameters to sort the existing media files. You can sort files by name, date, author, and size.
To streamline your file management workflow, FileBird supports bulk selects and drag and drop functionality so that you don’t have to move the files to a folder one by one.
FileBird is released as a freemium plugin. Be it the free version or pro version allows you to create unlimited virtual folders. The pro version comes with more advanced features such as the ability to set a color to a folder, the ability to set a folder theme, and integration supports with WooCommerce and page builder plugins such as Divi Builder, Elementor, Brizy, and so on. There are three folder themes you can choose from: default, Windows 11’s File Explorer, and Dropbox. You can set the theme from the plugin settings (Plugins -> Installed Plugins).
